Woody’s Lodge CEO to lace up for charity in Half Marathon Speed March from Chester to Wrexham

WOODY’S LODGE, the charity supporting veterans, reservists, emergency service personnel, and their families across Wales, is calling on the public and the press to support its upcoming Speed March challenge, an inspiring half marathon-distance event led by none other than the charity’s CEO, Graham Jones.

Starting from Chester Town Hall and finishing at Queen’s Square, Wrexham, this year’s Speed March promises to be a powerful symbol of resilience, service, and support. Covering over 13 miles on foot at a rapid marching pace, this challenge is the third of four major fundraising efforts Graham is undertaking in 2025 to bolster the charity’s work. Recently he completed his previous two milestones, the London Landmarks Half Marathon and The London Marathon, and these have already raised significant awareness and support for Woody’s Lodge.

Graham Jones said: “Taking part in this Speed March isn’t just about raising money; it’s about marching in solidarity with those who’ve served and sacrificed.

“This event brings us closer to the people we support and helps highlight the urgent need for accessible services for veterans across Wales. It will also help us to spread our support to those living in Chester and surrounding areas.”

The day will culminate in a celebration of military service with a Veterans’ Village at Queen’s Square, featuring outdoor stalls hosted by local and national military associations. The village will offer the public a chance to engage with local Reserve Units, the Military Preparation College, and veterans’ organisations, to hear their stories, and show support for the Armed Forces community. Additionally, teams from the 3rd Battalion Royal Welsh, the Military Preparation College, and Cheshire Police will be present, with the day intended to recruit for each organisation.

Local dignitaries, military families, and the general public are invited to attend and take part in the festivities. Media outlets are encouraged to cover this poignant event and its community impact.
