Sam Rowlands MS highlights improved bus service for North Wales

SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, has welcomed news of an improved bus service between Wrexham and Barmouth.

Mr Rowlands, Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Transport and Infrastructure, who continues to campaign for better public transport services in North Wales, was commenting after TrawsCymru announced enhancements to its T3 bus service from June 29.

He said: “I am delighted to see that my campaign for improved public transport in North Wales is beginning to pay dividends and operators are listening to feedback from passengers.

“I recently held an online survey asking for the views of my constituents and concern was  expressed about both bus and train services in my region with issues about reliability and access raised.

“I welcome these improvements to this particular route and especially pleased to see that all journeys will stop at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital making it more accessible for local people to attend their appointments.”

The TrawsCymru T3 bus service has announces significant enhancements to the service between Wrexham and Barmouth, which will come into effect from June 29, 2025.

Working with the bus operator, they have made a series of key changes to the timetable and route, which will improve the overall reliability and its connections with other services. These changes will also help to make the T3 much more accessible.

The changes come as a direct result of insights received from passengers during engagement sessions held in Dolgellau, Bala, and Corwen last November.

Changes include:

  • Llanwuchllyn: Whilst T3C services will continue to serve Llanuwchllyn, T3 services will now serve the top of Llanuwchllyn (Ysgol O M Edwards) in both directions ensuring safer access to the T3 for residents in the area.
  • Sunday Service: Communities in Llanuwchllyn, Cynwyd, Llandderfel, and Llandrillo will have a T3C service on a Sunday, providing transport links for leisure, work, and social needs. This is being introduced on a trial basis.
  • Improved Hospital Access: All journeys will now serve Maelor Hospital in Wrexham, ensuring increased access to healthcare appointments and medical services.
  • School Transport: Monday to Friday the 16:32 from Barmouth will add stops in Llanuwchllyn, Cynwyd, Llandderfel and Llandrillo to give Coleg Meirion Dwyfor students a direct journey home.
