Two fatal bike accidents

policeONE rider were seriously hurt and another was killed when their motorcycle collided with a truck towing a boat in Ceredigion yesterday (Saturday), in the second fatal bike accident in the Cardigan area over the Easter break.

The driver of the bike – who was tragically killed – has been named locally as Cardigan man Chris Lawrence. The passenger was 26 year old Darren Williams, a builder, and also from Cardigan.

Emergency services were called to the collision on the B4548 at Gwbert, near Cardigan, at 13:19 BST.

Mid and West Wales Fire Service said firefighters were called to free the two men who were trapped beneath the tow truck.

Darren Williams was airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

At 3am this morning (Sunday) Darren’s mother, Lorna Williams wrote that he was in a “critical but stable” condition. She added “Its been a sad emotional and tragic day for both families.”

The incident came just one day after another biker lost his life in the same area. Dyfed-Powys Police said: “At approximately 1.40pm on Friday, April 18, police received a report of a road traffic collision on the A487 Felindre Farchog to Cardigan Road.

There were two vehicles involved in the collision, a lorry and a motorcycle. The male rider of the motorcycle tragically died at the scene.”
