At Citizens Advice we’ve been around for 85 years helping people solve problems. Some of you may already know us, but for those who don’t, we’d like to take a moment to reintroduce ourselves. We are a charity working for the whole of society — whoever you are, whatever your problem.
At Cyngor ar Bopeth Citizens Advice Powys, we give free, impartial and completely independent advice, giving people the confidence and knowledge to find their way forward and to improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives.
We operate from our offices in Newtown, Brecon and Ystradgynlais and you can also access our services from drop in outreach locations across Powys. We continue to provided impartial and trusted advice across a diverse range of people, including those who are at greater risk of disadvantage, detriment, or harm.
From April 2024 to March 2025 we supported over 4,100 residents of Powys with:
· 24,000 advice issues
· £1.2 million of problem debt written off.
· £3.5 million of income directly secured for households.
· £3.8 million debt negotiated.
People don’t come to us about one issue though, we support people with an average of 6 advice issues each and therefore the demand for our service is on the increase and we need to expand too.
Would you like to help us fulfil this vital role by joining the team at our offices in Ystradgynlais and Brecon ?
If you are passionate about supporting your community and assisting people find the best outcomes, with a positive attitude and strong communication skills – you could be a ‘champion’ too.
