Some schools in Wales have announced their closure this morning after temperatures dropped to -8C in parts of the country overnight.
Pembrokeshire County Council has said that a number of schools will be closing. Aberdare Community School has already closed because of problems with their heating system.
Temperatures in Wales dropped to well below freezing in many places on Sunday night, and drivers have been warned that the roads are “extremely dangerous.” Dyfed Powys Police has warned that some back roads in Pembrokeshire may not have been salted.
Rhian Haf, a BBC weather presenter, said that it will stay “bitterly cold” for the next week. There was frost everywhere this morning, and untreated surfaces have ice patches. Even though it’s a bit warmer near the coast, Rhian said that some places won’t get above freezing.

Caerphilly
Bedwas High School – The school has closed due to two boilers breaking and icy conditions. Work for all classes the pupils have today will be posted on Google Classroom.
St Martin’s School – The school announced the decision to close the school sue to hazardous conditions on site.

St Florence Church in Wales VC School – St Florence Church in Wales VC School will be Partially Closed today (12/12/2022) due to Inaccessible Due to Road Conditions. Additional notes: The school will re-open at 1pm weather conditions permitting.
St Francis Catholic Primary School- Milford Haven– St Francis Catholic Primary School – Milford Haven will be Closed today (12/12/2022) due to Snow Conditions.
Cosheston VC School – Cosheston VC School will be Closed today (12/12/2022) due to Inaccessible Due to Road Conditions.
Milford Haven Community Primary School – Milford Haven Community Primary School will be Closed today (12/12/2022) due to Inaccessible Due to Road Conditions.
Monkton Priory Community Primary School – Monkton Priory Community Primary School will be Closed (12/12/2022 – 13/12/2022) due to Inaccessible Due to Road Conditions. Additional notes: Paths at the school are iced over in places. All roads leading to school for the community are heavily iced over and have not been gritted.
Henry Tudor School – Henry Tudor School will be partially closed today (12/12/2022) due to inaccessible due to road conditions. Additional notes: Years 7, 8 and 9 on Google Classroom from 0845. Years 10, 11 and Sixth Form in school.
Pembrokeshire Learning Centre – Pembrokeshire Learning Centre will be partially closed today (12/12/2022) due to snow conditions. Additional notes: The PLC will be partially closed today (12.12.22) for learners who attend the KS3 provision in Neyland.
Rhondda Cynon Taff
Aberdare Community School – A statement from the school said: “Due to issues with the school’s heating system ACS will be closed today. Online learning will be available on our usual platforms. Further updates will be through the school’s usual communication channels to learners and parents.”
