TAFWYL ON THE THAMES
In a special event in London and part of the celebrations for London Welsh Week, Tafwyl Festival announced its full line-up of artists for 2025. Two of the 2025 Tafwyl artists, Al Lewis and Taran, were welcomed to a special event at the Welsh Centre in London to reveal the full list of artists for the festival, which will take place at Bute Park, Cardiff, on June 14th and 15th this year.
Organised by Menter Caerdydd, Tafwyl has grown to become one of Wales’ leading cultural festivals, attracting thousands of attendees every year.
This year’s artists include some of Wales’ most popular bands, appealing to a very broad audience. The Saturday and Sunday evening performances will end with special performances from the retro pop band Diffiniad, who will reform specially for the festival, Pys Melyn, MR, and Fleuer De Lys. The full list of first-wave artists includes:
Once again, the organizers expect a crowd of over 36,000 at the festival in Bute Park, and they are excited to collaborate with a wide range of partners, including Cardiff and Vale College, Cardiff City Council, the Welsh Government, S4C, Radio Cymru, the National Lottery, the Arts Council, and Orchard Media.
Speaking about the launch in London, Heulyn Rees, Chief Executive of Menter Caerdydd, said: “Launching Tafwyl in London has been a special opportunity to promote Tafwyl outside Wales, and we hope that many young Welsh people from the city will be inspired to return to Cardiff in June to celebrate their Welsh identity.”

The 2025 band list is particularly exciting, with organizers thrilled to see some popular bands reforming, such as Diffiniad and Gwibdaith Hen Fran, along with some of the most exciting bands in the music scene as part of an incredibly varied schedule.
Reflecting on the schedule, one of the Tafwyl organizers, Leanne Rochefort-Shugar, said: “Tafwyl is more than a festival; it’s a celebration of Welsh culture in all its forms. We are delighted to announce this year’s line-up with this special event in London, giving a taste of what’s to come in Cardiff this summer.”
