Lights, Camera, Leave! Wales gives Netflix the boot at press conference

IN PROTEST against what they perceive as mistreatment by rugby authorities, Welsh rugby players have refused to allow Netflix cameras to film them, thereby disrupting the behind-the-scenes access that all teams have agreed to as part of a lucrative deal with the online streaming service.

This has led to the cameras being asked to leave a recent press conference when Alun Wyn Jones appeared for media duties alongside Warren Gatland.

Although the cameras have been a constant presence at the team’s headquarters since the start of the Six Nations. Welsh players – who are reportedly considering strike action over the uncertain contractual situation in Welsh rugby – have withdrawn from training sessions and other events while the dispute continues.

This latest move follows the Wales team’s early departure from a WRU sponsors dinner earlier in the week as a planned expression of their anger. The documentary, which has been eagerly anticipated, is set to air next year.
