Blue Flags to fly over three Ceredigion beaches again this summer

BLUE FLAGS will again be flown at three of Ceredigion’s most popular beaches in 2025 at Borth, Llangrannog and Tresaith with an additional six beaches achieving Seaside Award status and a further four obtaining the coveted rural Green Coast Award.

Beaches achieving Blue Flag and Green Coast Award status must meet the highest overall “Excellent” water quality standard and are judged for the provision of facilities for beach users and for demonstrating good management and safety provision. The Seaside Award recognises beaches that comply with recognised water quality standards, public facilities, safety provision and management.

Councillor Clive Davies, Ceredigion County Council’s Cabinet Member for the Economy and Regeneration has again welcomed the good news that several of our beaches continue to be recognised with these quality assurance awards.

He said: “I am delighted to see that Blue, Green and Seaside Award flags/plaques will be erected at Ceredigion’s most popular bathing beaches in 2025, and we are fully expecting to see many visitors and locals alike enjoying themselves on beaches along the Ceredigion coast this summer.

“May I again express my appreciation to the many individuals, groups/organisations and the business sector across Ceredigion in volunteering their time to champion our Caru Ceredigion messaging and by undertaking regular beach, promenade and foreshore litter picks along with promoting environmental conservation, wildlife educational and beach/water safety activities etc. along our coastline.

“Without this long-standing support, we would not be able to put forward so many of our beaches and successfully obtain these prestigious coastal awards, which places Ceredigion beaches amongst the very best of coastal destinations in Wales and the UK whilst acting as a key driver for the Ceredigion economy.”
