Two people taken to ambulances following plane crash in Powys

TWO people needed first aid after a microlight aircraft lost power and crashed into a field near Castle Caereinion.

The emergency services were promptly alerted and swiftly arrived at the scene on Tuesday (Jun 13) evening.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the two casualties were out of the aircraft when they arrived. 

Photographs depicting the aftermath of the crash showed the aircraft located in a field near a junction with the A458, while fire services and police personnel were present to manage the situation.

The condition of the pilot and passenger are currently unknown. 

A Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “One microlight aircraft had lost power and collided with the ground.

“Two casualties were released from the aircraft prior to the crew’s arrival.  

“The crew administered first aid while waiting for the ambulance service and assisted the ambulance crew in conveying the casualties to waiting ambulances.  

“Dyfed-Powys Police were also in attendance and the nearby road was closed while the incident was ongoing.”
