Fishguard RNLI joins four other lifeboats in large scale search for missing person

FISHGUARD RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat launched on Monday (April 4) to join four other lifeboats from St.Davids and Angle and Irish RNLI lifeboats from Rosslare and Kilmore Quay in a large scale search, supporting two HM Coastguard helicopters, for a missing person off the ferry ‘Stena Estrid’ which had travelled from Cherbourg to Rosslare.

The all-weather lifeboat launched at 3.00pm with five volunteer crew and sped to its designated area 40 miles south-west of Strumble Head to commence its programmed search pattern. After completing the first leg of the search the lifeboat was stood down by HM Coastguard and the lifeboat commenced its return journey, docking back at Fishguard harbour at 8.15pm.
