‘Milford Haven Men’s Shed’ searches for new recruits

A GROUP of local men banded together last September to start their own “Men’s Shed”. With goals to improve the community, they are looking for more people to join their inspirational team.

Men’s Shed is a community space for men to connect, converse and create. The group helps reduce loneliness and isolation, but more importantly – it’s fun!

The activities are often similar to those of garden sheds, but are for groups of men to enjoy together.

Men’s Shed complete a variety of projects aimed at helping the local community. They have completed small tasks for those who are unable to do so themselves, such as fixing an outdoor tap or connecting a washing machine.

They have also taken on larger projects such as repairing the Christmas manger outside of Milford Haven Town Hall, and built a flower planter in Steynton.

The “Shed” takes place at Hubberston and Hakin Community Centre every Wednesday evening from 7-9pm.

As for projects, the “Shed” uses a temporary base at a group member’s garage as they lack a permanent location for completing their projects.

Men who are looking to join the group need to be at least 18 years old due to the use of power tools.

If you are stuck with nothing to do and would like to help the local community, be sure to pop along and see what the Milford Haven Men’s Shed is all about.
