NHS Orthodontic services will get treatment from new provider

Hywel Dda University Health Board will be contacting patients to make them aware that those requiring orthodontic services will receive their treatment through a new provider from April 1 2020.
The health board’s current provider of orthodontic services, The Orthodontic Centre in Carmarthen, will no longer be providing these NHS services after March 31 2020. However, the health board has secured orthodontic services with three new orthodontic practices in Pembroke Dock, Carmarthen and Swansea.
These new contracts provide the opportunity for better access to orthodontic services for patients across Hywel Dda.
Patients requiring this specialist service will be designated to the practice closest to their home.
The practices are:
Quayside Orthodontics – Pembroke Dock
Quayside Orthodontics – Carmarthen
Neat Teeth – Swansea
We wish to reassure patients that the health board has a responsibility to ensure that any patient who is currently undergoing treatment will continue to receive orthodontic care in one of the three practices.
The health board will be contacting all patients in writing who are currently receiving care with The Orthodontic Centre to discuss the transfer of their care.
Jill Paterson, Director of Primary Care, Community and Long-term Care for Hywel Dda University Health Board: “The provision of orthodontic services in three locations for Hywel Dda residents allows for better access to services for patients closer to their homes.
“In addition to this the health board has invested additional funding to improve waiting times.”
If any patients are concerned, please contact 01267 229696 to leave a voicemail and this will be responded to by a member of the Dental Services Team.
