Steynton to construct ‘giant crown’ as part of Queen’s Platinum Jubilee festivities

This will be Monmouthshire Council's first energy performance contract, with SSE guaranteeing energy savings over eight years

STEYNTON CHURCH and Steynton Community Group have been preparing a series of events to celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee. We plan to construct a Giant Crown for people to come and take a photo with over the festivities, with an event planned for this coming Saturday, at 10am, for the children of the community to come and make a crown while the large scale crown is made for the event. The giant crown is being led by Nicola Davies and the children will be encouraged to get involved adding the jewels and various parts of the crown.

The Steynton Jubilee committee have been blessed with significant funding from the Community Group and the Rotary Club of Milford Haven making a further donation of £200, which the committee were delighted about. Nicola commented, “We would love to do so much more, but the key thing to remember is that those involved are all volunteers and events like these always rely on the goodwill of the people in our community, to pull together in terms of their time and resources. A warm welcome and grateful thanks is always extended to anyone who can contribute in some way, however small”

Then and Now

If anyone has any photographs, drawings, stories or anything else regarding Steynton past and present, the committee would love you to share that with them. They plan to lodge information with the local archive as a record of our community then and now. If you are new to Steynton or if your connection is from years gone by, then all of this contributes to the history of Steynton. Where you or a family member lived, how your street or house looks, memories of the Park at Jordans Close, anything really. You might want to talk about school, your friends, what you do for fun or just do a drawing and sign your name.
