Aaron Ramsey could make a return to Cardiff City!

CARDIFF City fans have been given a glimmer of hope as former defender Danny Gabbidon suggests that Aaron Ramsey’s return to the club this summer should not be ruled out. Ramsey’s future at Nice remains uncertain, and with his family still based in south Wales, there is speculation that a move back to Cardiff could be on the cards.

In an interview earlier this week, Ramsey disclosed that his next move would revolve around reuniting his family. While he has played enough games at Nice to trigger a contract extension, it is unknown whether the option has been exercised. The Wales captain’s comments have ignited discussions about a potential homecoming to the Welsh capital, where his football journey began 15 years ago before his move to Arsenal.

During an appearance on the BBC’s Elis James Feast of Football show, Gabbidon, who was Ramsey’s teammate for Wales, expressed his intrigue about the possibility of the midfielder’s return. Gabbidon stated, “I think this is one to watch. I wouldn’t rule it out. Certainly, listening to Aaron speak the other day, he didn’t dismiss it. He mentioned missing his family and enjoying his time in Nice. However, the biggest concern is not having his family there. He also mentioned seeing what happens in the next few weeks, so something is going to happen.”

Gabbidon acknowledges the challenges that may arise if Ramsey does return to Cardiff City. He highlights the stark differences between the Championship and the league in which Ramsey currently plays, emphasizing the rigorous schedule of two games per week throughout most of the season. Additionally, Gabbidon notes that Cardiff is a team still searching for its identity, which could affect Ramsey’s effectiveness. Nevertheless, he acknowledges the positive impact Ramsey’s return would have on the club’s profile, fan morale, and optimism.

Ramsey’s press conference did not provide much insight into his plans, particularly regarding the possibility of staying at Nice. Gabbidon points out that Ramsey did not emphasize the option to stay in his current club, suggesting that a move elsewhere could be on the horizon. Gabbidon also raises concerns about Cardiff’s financial capacity to meet Ramsey’s wage demands, although he believes Ramsey would not seek exorbitant wages.

With Cardiff City having recently appointed Erol Bulut as their new manager, Gabbidon questions the thought process behind potentially bringing Ramsey to the club. Bulut’s defensive-minded approach and preference for counter-attacking football may not align with Ramsey’s style. However, Gabbidon and fellow pundit Iwan Roberts speculate that Ramsey could be utilized as a link-up player, operating as a No. 10 or winger in the team’s setup.

As Ramsey prepares to captain Wales in their upcoming matches against Armenia and Turkey, his future is expected to be decided in the following days. Cardiff City fans will be eagerly awaiting any developments regarding a possible return of their prodigal son, Aaron Ramsey.
