Birmingham duo jailed for attempted burglary in Swansea

A PAIR from Birmingham have been sentenced to one to two years’ imprisonment at Swansea Crown Court for their roles in a meticulously planned attempted burglary.

Violet Gevori, 33, and Niklola Mitocarita, 39, both from West Bromwich, Birmingham, travelled to Swansea late on the night of Wednesday, 28th February, with the intention of breaking into a residential property. Their target was a home where they attempted to gain entry by damaging a window frame. However, their efforts were ultimately unsuccessful, and they left the scene without stealing any items.

The victim, left deeply shaken by the incident, described feeling unsafe in his own home, a place where he once felt secure. In a statement to the court, he shared that he had always been a happy and worry-free person but now feels fearful and reluctant to leave his house.

Gevori and Mitocarita had come well-prepared for the burglary, bringing specific tools and items such as a balaclava to conceal their identities. Although they did not carry any weapons, the seriousness of their intent was clear.

Her Honour Judge Catherine Richards, presiding over the case, characterised the crime as a “professional operation,” emphasising the significant level of planning and execution involved. She pointed out that the late-night timing and the coordinated efforts of the defendants indicated a deliberate and calculated attempt at burglary.

During sentencing, it was revealed that Mitocarita fully accepted responsibility for his actions. He expressed remorse and asked the court to consider his role as a father of two young children and as the primary financial supporter of his partner.

Both Gevori and Mitocarita received sentences of one to two years’ imprisonment, with the possibility of release at the halfway point. Upon release, they will serve the remainder of their sentences on licence, with the risk of being recalled to prison should they breach the conditions of their release.
