Ebbw Vale school in partial lockdown following incident

Ebbw Fawr Learning Community in Ebbw Vale is in a partial lockdown due to reported threats towards a teenager at the school. Pupils are taking shelter under desks as a precaution.

Gwent Police have arrested a teenage boy for suspected threats, and officers are currently on-site. The school caters to children aged three to 16.

A teacher mentioned that everyone has been asked to stay in their classrooms, but both students and staff are staying calm. Parents received a message informing them of the “partial lockdown”.

This incident comes after an event two days ago where two teachers and a pupil were hospitalised after an incident at a secondary school in Ammanford. A teenage girl has been charged with attempted murder of the two teachers and the pupil at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman.

A spokesperson said: ” We received a call to report that Ebbw Fawr Learning Community had been placed in partial lockdown at around 10.20am after a teenage pupil had allegedly received threatening messages.

“Our officers are in attendance. We have arrested a teenage boy on suspicion of making threats.

“The arrest did not take place on school premises and was not in the Ebbw Vale area. Our enquiries are ongoing.”
