New Order to make monumental return to Cardiff after 40-year break

New Order is gearing up for a momentous return to Cardiff after nearly four decades, marking their first show in the capital since 1983.

Renowned for their revolutionary electronic tunes and the record-breaking track “Blue Monday,” the band is slated to headline The Bay Series of concerts at Alexandra Head in Cardiff Bay on Thursday, August 22, 2024.

The Bay Series, now in its third year, has previously showcased top acts like The Chemical Brothers, The Streets, Liam Gallagher, and N-Dubz. Tickets for this much-anticipated gig will be available for purchase starting Tuesday, December 5 via Ticketmaster. Pre-sales for the concert will also take place, and detailed information can be accessed through their website.

Joining New Order on stage will be an impressive lineup, including the legendary British indie group, The Charlatans, who previously supported Liam Gallagher at the same venue in 2022.

New Order’s last performance in Wales dates back to 2012 when they appeared at Festival No.6 in Port Meirion.

Hailing from Salford and Macclesfield, New Order emerged following the dissolution of Joy Division and are recognized as trailblazers bridging the gap between post-punk and dance music. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of their hit track “Blue Monday” this year, the band announced reissued editions of their acclaimed compilation, Substance 1987— their highest-selling album to date. Boasting multiple awards and over 3.5 million albums sold globally, New Order headlined Barcelona’s Primavera Sound in the summer of 2023 before embarking on their UK and European tour in the autumn.

Additionally, another major event scheduled at Alexandra Head in 2024 features Becky Hill on Saturday, August 24. For further details about tickets for this show, visit Ticketmaster.

Meanwhile, Cardiff is set to host big outdoor gigs in 2024, featuring Foo Fighters, Taylor Swift, Manic Street Preachers, The Smashing Pumpkins, and other renowned artists.
