Welsh TV hosts and former couple, Alex Jones and Steve Jones, had a reunion on The One Show on the evening of Tuesday, July 4. The Ferndale-born Formula 1 presenter appeared on the BBC evening program to promote his debut novel, Call Time, and engaged in a discussion with Alex, who hails from Ammanford, about the book and his experience hosting motor racing.
Alex and Steve had been in a relationship for three years from 1999 to 2002. Their split occurred when Steve filled in for Alex during an interview with a high-profile celebrity. However, during their appearance on The One Show, it appeared that the two had put their past behind them as they shared a friendly exchange on the sofa. Alex expressed her interest in the novel, stating, “You’re definitely good at writing. I’ve read a bit of the book, and I’m hooked.” Steve playfully challenged her, asking, “What page are you on, Jones?”

Earlier this year, Alex discussed an awkward situation involving Steve on the Dish podcast. She revealed that Steve had falsely informed a production company that she was unwell, leading her to miss out on the opportunity to interview Angelina Jolie. Alex recounted the incident, stating, “Normally, they would call in the morning and ask to come and do an interview or a junket. I was staying in [Steve’s] flat at the time when I was working in London. He picked up the landline and said, ‘Al’s not here. She’s not feeling well; she’s had to go back to Cardiff.’ I was in Topshop. So he did the interview.”
Despite their past differences, Alex and Steve appeared to have reestablished a cordial relationship, showcasing their professionalism during the on-air reunion on The One Show.
