Second allegation surfaces in BBC presenter scandal, claims BBC News

BBC News has revealed that another young individual has come forward with allegations against the BBC presenter at the centre of a sex scandal. This second person, described as being in their early 20s, has claimed that they were anonymously contacted by the presenter through a dating app and were subsequently pressured to meet up.

According to the accuser, they did not meet in person. However, when they hinted online that they might reveal the presenter’s identity, they received a series of abusive and profanity-laden messages that left them feeling frightened and intimidated.

BBC News has confirmed the existence of these “threatening messages” and has further verified that they were sent from a phone number associated with the presenter. In an interview with the BBC, the young person expressed ongoing fear towards the presenter due to the power they wield.

In response to these new allegations, BBC News stated, “The new allegations of menacing and bullying behavior by the presenter raise fresh questions about his conduct.” The news organisation also disclosed that it had attempted to contact the presenter directly and through his lawyer regarding the latest accusations, but had received no response.

It has been alleged that the initial connection between the accuser and the presenter occurred on a dating app, but their subsequent conversations took place on other platforms. At some point during their interaction, the presenter reportedly disclosed their identity and explicitly instructed the young person not to disclose it to anyone.

Earlier in the day, Tim Davie, the BBC’s director-general, emphasised that BBC News operates independently of the corporation’s corporate arm and provides “independent reporting” on the unfolding scandal. When questioned about the existence of additional complaints, Davie declined to comment due to an ongoing police investigation, stating, “Because that is the subject of an active police discussion… absolutely I can’t comment on that.”

The emergence of this second allegation not only adds weight to the accusations against the BBC presenter but also raises further concerns about their behavior. As the investigation continues, the public awaits any potential response or statement from the presenter regarding these latest claims.
