Wales’s Gerwyn Price stuns World Champion Luke Littler in Nottingham

Last night, Cardiff’s Gerwyn Price delivered a stunning performance to defeat Luke Littler 6-3 in the final, securing victory on Night Six of the Premier League in Nottingham. This marks Price’s second nightly win of the 2025 campaign, having previously claimed a 6-3 triumph over Nathan Aspinall on Night Three in Dublin. His latest success propels him to third place in the standings with 12 points.

Despite falling short in the final, Littler now leads the Premier League table with 16 points. Luke Humphries follows closely behind in second place with 15 points, while Michael van Gerwen completes the top four with 10 points.

Humphries had entered the night with a two-point lead at the top of the table. However, his quarter-final defeat meant he left Nottingham without adding to his tally, allowing Littler to overtake him in the standings.

Reflecting on his victory, Price said: “The first game is always tough, you’re scraping to get two points. After I get a few then I relax a bit.

“I did it against MVG and I wanted to get another win over Luke, just to keep on top. He’s one of the best in the world and he’s going to be for the next few years. He’s going to get better and better.

“I praise him every single day. I think he’ll beat Phil Taylor’s record and there is no one in the PDC that will stop him. There’s only the younger generations that can stop him, we can’t stop him. He’s going to get better and better.”

In the final, Price started strongly, racing into a three-leg lead and seizing control of the match. Littler struggled with his doubles at crucial moments, allowing the Welshman to maintain his dominance.

A spectacular 123 checkout on the bull restored Price’s three-leg advantage, and although Littler managed to secure a break, Price immediately responded by breaking back to move within one leg of victory.

The ‘Iceman’ sealed the win in emphatic fashion, taking out 100 on tops with a clinical 55 per cent success rate on his doubles. This impressive display keeps Price firmly in contention as a Premier League title challenger.
