Chelsea manager Pochettino acknowledges Wrexham as a “tough team” ahead of pre-season clash

CHELSEA manager Mauricio Pochettino has expressed his thoughts ahead of the club’s friendly match against Wrexham, acknowledging the challenge that the League Two team poses. The game, which marks Pochettino’s first in charge of Chelsea, will take place as part of the club’s pre-season tour in the United States.

Wrexham, buoyant from their promotion last season, is using the pre-season tour as an excellent opportunity to gear up for the upcoming campaign in League Two, the fourth tier of English football. The team is relishing the chance to test their mettle against a Premier League giant like Chelsea.

After experiencing disappointing stints under Graham Potter and interim manager Frank Lampard, Chelsea has entered a new era with the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino. His coaching pedigree from previous spells at Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain has raised expectations for the London club.

Speaking in a pre-game press conference, Pochettino recognized the significance of the match against Wrexham and viewed it as a crucial test for Chelsea’s young players. He said, “Tomorrow is going to be a good chance to see the young guys play against a tough team. It’s going to be a good opportunity for them to show they are ready to play for a club like us. No pressure, but they need to show it tomorrow.”

Fans can catch the clash between Wrexham and Chelsea at the 51,000-capacity Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, which is home to the college football team, the North Carolina Tar Heels. The game will be broadcast live on S4C, providing an exciting opportunity for supporters of the Red Dragons to witness the action unfold. The match will kick off on Wednesday, 19th July at 7:30 pm local time, translating to 12:30 am on Thursday morning for viewers in the UK.
