Cresselly cruise to win over Tish

CRESSELLY moved to within two points of Division 1 leaders Neyland on Saturday (May 28) as they beat St Ishmaels by ten wickets.

Cresselly won the toss and chose to field and they were able to bowl Tish out for 134 inside 42 overs.

Tish lost Andrew Palmer early on when he was caught by Simon Cole off the bowling of Dan James and they were never able to get going as wickets continued to fall.

Peter Bradshaw scored 18 but was trapped leg before by James who also had Phil Cockburn caught by Alex Bayley.

That reduced Tish to 40-3 and it was soon 55-4 as Karl Rhead was bowled by James on a score of 21.

Ryan Lewis then bowled Brennan Devonald as Tish slipped into further trouble on 73-5.

Andrew Williams and Jonathan Pawlett did share 33 runs for the sixth wicket. Williams scored 11 but was then bowled by Tom Arthur.

Jay Power also fell to Arthur who also bowled Jonathan Pawlett on a score of 43 (four fours, 1 six) and that left Tish on 117-8.

Lewis Rhead fell to the bowling of Tom Murphy before Arthur bowled Kevin Bowen to claim his fourth wickets and figures of 4-22. Dan James claimed figures of 4-17.

Cresselly’s opening pair of Phil Williams and Matthew Morgan were untroubled as they guided their side home.

Morgan hit ten fours as he finished unbeaten on 60 while Williams hit eleven boundaries to finish unbeaten on 65.

The win means Cresselly, who have had two points deducted for a slow over-rate from a recent game, sit just two points behind leaders Neyland.

On Saturday, June 4, Cresselly host Pembroke Dock while St Ishmaels travel to Llangwm.
