United earn bragging rights in Milford derby

MILFORD UNITED earned the bragging rights once again as they beat neighbours Milford Athletic 4-0 on Saturday (Mar 19).

United had earned a 7-0 win at Marble Hall earlier in the season but they didn’t have it all their own way on Saturday as the game was goalless at the break after an even contest.

The Athletic though were forced to make two subsitutions in the first half due to injury.

The first goal of the game came on the hour mark as Liam Parr scored.

Morgan Picton scored two minutes later to double United’s lead and on 67 minutes the points were all but secured as Sam Davies made it 3-0.

Liam Davies made it 4-0 in injury time as Milford secured a return to winning ways after two straight draws.

It means they are now unbeaten in ten games in all competitions and they now sit fourth in Division 2, two points off second placed Hakin United seconds with two games in hand.

On Saturday, March 26, Milford United are at home against third placed Merlins Bridge seconds.

Milford Athletic remain second bottom in the table, and are without a game this weekend.
