Vikings end Goodwick’s title hopes

HAKIN United’s Justin Harding scored the only goal of the game on Saturday (Apr 13) as his side beat rivals Goodwick United 1-0.

Goodwick came to the Obs knowing they would need to win to keep their title hopes alive as they sat six points behind leaders Monkton.

They were also looking to avenge their defeat at the Obs in the quarter finals of the West Wales Cup earlier in the season.

The only goal of the game came early on as Nicky Woodrow crossed into the box for Justin Harding to head home.

It was a physical game with tempers flaring on times but neither side was able to add to the scoring.

Hakin saw the game out and their clean sheet was their first since the end of January.

The win for the Vikings keeps them fifth and they are now ten points behind Goodwick with three games in hand on them.

Tonight (Apr 15), Hakin travel to St Clears before they travel to Saundersfoot on Wednesday (Apr 17).

While Goodwick cannot now catch the Swifts, they can still have a say in the title race as they travel to Monkton for their final game of the season on Saturday (Apr 27).
