Wrexham captain Ben Tozer receives heartfelt support after tragic loss of father

Wrexham captain Ben Tozer has received heartfelt support from actor and Wrexham club co-owner Ryan Reynolds following the tragic passing of his father. Tozer, 33, took to social media to share the devastating news that his father had been diagnosed with leukemia on Saturday. Despite undergoing an immediate brain operation, Tozer’s father sadly succumbed to the illness on Monday.

In his social media post, Tozer expressed his emotions, saying, “On Saturday, I was told my Dad has Leukaemia but it’s treatable. On Sunday night, he required a brain operation, which went positively, then last night the unthinkable happened.”

He went on to reveal the heartbreaking revelation that his father had been concealing his extreme suffering, stating, “Sadly, all of this happened because he had left it too late.

Unknowingly, he was masking the fact he was [in] complete agony. ‘Go and get checked’ we regularly said. He was just too scared of what it could be. Thank you, Dad. Our last words together will live with me forever. I love you. I hope we have all done you proud.”

Tozer’s tribute was retweeted by Wrexham, who added their condolences, tweeting, “So sorry to hear this. Our thoughts are with you and your family.” Reynolds, known for his close relationship with several Wrexham players, also extended his support. Writing on social media, Reynolds expressed his empathy, stating, “Gut wrenching. Sending so much love to the Tozer family.”

Meanwhile, Wrexham Football Club is diligently preparing for their return to the Football League after a 15-year absence. In the upcoming weeks, they will face challenging friendlies against powerhouse teams Manchester United and Chelsea during their visit to the United States.
