Three dead following crash in North Wales, say police

THREE people have died following a crash in Anglesey, North Wales, police have confirmed.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon on Alma Street, near the seafront and close to Beaumaris Pier.

The three individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, according to North Wales Police.

Chief Inspector Caroline Mullen-Hurst has appealed for witnesses who have not yet spoken to officers, as well as anyone with dashcam footage of the incident, to come forward. “We are appealing to anybody who witnessed the incident that hasn’t already spoken to officers, or anybody who might have dashcam footage, to please get in touch,” she said.

An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene, with the Welsh Ambulance Service reporting that they were called shortly before 14:45 HRS on Wednesday.

North Wales Police are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash and have urged the public to avoid the area. The High Street, which remains closed, is expected to be shut for some time.

Local MP Llinos Medi described the incident as “disastrous news” for the community. “I am thinking of everyone who has been affected today. It is news that has shaken our community here on the island,” she said.

Rhun ap Iorwerth, Plaid Cymru leader and Member of the Senedd for Ynys Môn, where the incident occurred, also expressed his condolences. “This is devastating news, and my thoughts are with those affected and their loved ones,” he said, urging people to follow police advice and avoid the area.

Police confirmed that officers, along with fire, ambulance, and air ambulance crews, attended the scene.

Beaumaris, located on the eastern coast of Anglesey, is a popular holiday destination, attracting many tourists to its Unesco-listed Beaumaris Castle and nearby Puffin Island.
