Time is running out for UK residents to claim a £150 boost – discover if you qualify

MILLIONS of households with disabilities in the UK are set to receive a £150 payment aimed at assisting with the cost of living. Over the next few weeks, approximately six million people will be eligible for the tax-free Disability Cost of Living Payment, which will be directly deposited into their bank accounts from June 20 to July 4.

To clarify who is eligible for this payment and how to claim it, the following benefits are required:

  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Personal Independence Payment
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Scottish Disability Benefits (Adult Disability Payment and Child Disability Payment)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment
  • Constant Attendance Allowance
  • War Pension Mobility Supplement

Receiving any one of the aforementioned benefits is sufficient to qualify for the £150 payment.

For those already receiving one of the qualifying benefits prior to April 1, the payment will be automatically deposited into their bank accounts. However, individuals still awaiting confirmation of their eligibility for any of the qualifying benefits on or after this date may receive the £150 payment after July 4. When reviewing your bank statement, the code to look for is your national insurance number followed by “DWP COL”.

In addition to the Disability Cost of Living Payment, individuals claiming certain benefits have the opportunity to receive a separate one-time payment of up to £812. However, it is essential for eligible recipients to actively claim this payment themselves. Known as a Budgeting Loan, it is an interest-free loan, requiring borrowers to repay only the amount borrowed.

Furthermore, the government will be disbursing an additional cost of living payment worth £900 throughout the year. This payment is available for those receiving any of the following benefits:

  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Income Support
  • Pension Credit
  • Tax Credits (Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit)
  • Universal Credit

The first payment, amounting to £301, was distributed between April and May. The second installment, totaling £300, is scheduled for autumn. The final portion, worth £299, will be distributed in spring of the following year. Specific dates for the second and third payments have yet to be announced. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has assured that it will provide further information regarding exact dates closer to the time of distribution.
