WUKA extends deal with Wales Women

WUKA (acronym for: WAKE UP, KICK ASS) has extended its partnership with the Welsh Rugby Union for a further two years, up to 2025.

The initial deal with the sustainable period wear brand, announced in March 2022, made history as the first period pant brand to sponsor a national sports team.

WUKA has provided the Wales Women national squad with a range of period ‘cycle set’ underwear and this year will also see WUKA provide product to the U20s and U18s Wales Women teams.

Jo Perkins Wales Women Head Physio says, “We have had overwhelming feedback from the players on the use of the WUKA products. Many of the players have felt more confident in both training and matches, allowing them to focus purely on their performance rather than worrying about leaking or comfort whilst on their period.”

“The range of different styles has also been really appealing for the players, allowing individual choice that allows them to perform at their best. The WUKA products have also been a fantastic option for our younger players, many of whom have reported the challenges and anxiety around menstrual product options, which in some cases previously stopped them playing or training”

WUKA will continue supporting the female pathway, community teams and grassroots rugby through access to exclusive discounts.

Ruby Raut, Founder and CEO WUKA, says, “WUKA are proud to be renewing our partnership with WRU for a further two years.”

“It’s been incredible to hear the positive impacts that wearing WUKA period pants has had on the team’s confidence and performance during training and matches. It means so much that our period wear is able to have such an impact on a national sports team and they’re part of our #TackleAnything campaign for sportspeople with periods.”

“We’re also excited to support the Welsh rugby community further over the coming two years and help tackle period poverty in Wales.”
