Abereiddy: Child injured after jumping into Blue Lagoon

A CHILD was injured after jumping into the Blue Lagoon at Abereiddy.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 15:00 HRS on Saturday (Aug 1).

The lagoon is an old slate quarry in the cliffs and is thought to be about 25m (82ft) deep.

The casualty was cared for by members of the public until coastguard and Welsh Ambulance Service arrived, and was treated before being transported to hospital.

The Welsh Ambulance Service said the child was transported to hospital by road, but the injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

HM Coastguard said on Facebook: “Team paged at 3pm to suspected back injury at the Blue Lagoon, Abereiddi.

Also paged HM Coastguard Fishguard and RNLI St Davids Lifeboat. The air ambulance was requested and a coastguard rescue helicopter from north Wales sent to scene.

“A road ambulance also dispatched.

“Casualty assessed on scene by medical staff from the Air Ambulance. No further treatment required.”
