IT HAS been busy for the crew of the Angle lifeboat with the crew being called out twice in one 24 hour period.
First call out came shortly after 7pm Thursday evening (Mar 24) as the crew was about to start their training session.
They were requested by the coastguard to attend a 7.6m motor boat with mechanical failure off St Govan’s buoy that had three people aboard.
When the lifeboat reached the casualty vessel it was decided to tow it to Milford Marina. Once off the marina entrance the vessel was taken alongside the lifeboat towed in placed on a berth in the marina.
With no further assistance required the lifeboat was released and headed back to station just before 10:30pm
The second call out came Friday afternoon shortly before 4pm. The request was to an 8m motor boat that was stuck fast to some fishing rope close in to rocks off Great Castle Head with one person on board.
The lifeboat arrived on scene and found the motor boat caught fast with the rope around his propeller.
A tow was passed and the rope cut to enable the casualty to be towed into deeper water where another attempt to free the rope from around the propeller could be made.
With that being unsuccessful the lifeboat towed the casualty to Milford Marina were it was placed alongside on the lock pontoon.
The lifeboat was released and headed back to the lifeboat mooring at 17:20.
