A PEMBROKESHIRE woman is set to join I’m A Celebrity winner Giovanna Fletcher and a host of others as they take part in a special charity walk.

Money raised from the walk will go to the breast cancer charity Coppafeel which aims to educate men and women about checking themselves regularly.

The charity’s founder Kris Hellenga was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of just 23.

By the time she was diagnosed her cancer had become terminal and she is just one of approximately 10,000 people every year, under the age of 50, who are told that they have breast cancer.

The charity says that it is really important that everybody starts learning how to examine themselves from a very early age.

Giovanna Fletcher will be joined on the walk with 100 others, all of whom have been affected by cancer in one way or another in their lifetime.

Pembrokeshire’s Ally Ballard said she was proud to be selected to be a part of the walk. She said: “Cancer as a whole has had a massive impact on my family and after my partner was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer in 2010 I made the decision to change my career path and become a nurse.

“During my training my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer and was the 3rd of 6 sisters to have breast cancer. She was successfully treated however went on to develop cancer of the oesophagus shortly after and died just under 12 months after we lost my brother, also to cancer.

“I’d seen the Coppafeel! Treks previously on Giovanna Fletcher’s Instagram page and through those amazing it would be to take on something like that, however they were all in quite remote places and having a busy family meant I always talked myself out of applying.

“When I saw that they were trekking the Pembrokeshire coast path I knew I had to apply. I never imagined that I would get selected so it was a huge shock to receive the email telling me I was in!

“It is such an amazing opportunity not only to raise awareness about breast cancer but also to put Pembrokeshire on the map and share our beautiful coast path with so many people.”

The walk takes place in June and anyone wishing to donate can go to Ally’s JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ally-treks
