Dinas: Man’s body found in Pwllgwaelod following search

POLICE were called at 6pm last night (June 17) following concern for a missing person in north Pembrokeshire.

At around 8.30pm Coastguard and RNLI were called to assist with a search of the Pwllgwaelod area of Dinas.

The body of a 63-year-old man was discovered shortly before 11pm.

The man’s family have been informed and are being supported by officers.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution said: “On Wednesday 17 June both Fishguard lifeboats launched to carry out a coastline search for a person reportedly missing. Both the Police and H.M.Coastguard teams were also involved ashore.

“The two lifeboats, with full volunteer crews, launched at 10.00pm into thick sea fog but calm water conditions. Their search commenced at Aber Bach, near Dinas Cross, and as the lifeboats and crews moved slowly towards Pwllgwaelod the casualty was seen on the shoreline. The inshore lifeboat crew transferred the casualty into the their lifeboat and proceeded the short distance to Pwllgwaelod beach to be met by the landside agencies who then took over responsibility for the casualty. Both lifeboats then returned to base arriving at 1130pm.”
