Dragon LNG evaluates potential for wind energy at their Waterston site

FOLLOWING last month’s solar project planning consent on their land overlooking the Milford Haven
Waterway, Dragon LNG is now taking steps to assess how the installation of up to three wind
turbines could complement their efforts to decarbonise and improve energy security.
With local community consultation being an integral part of the proposed project, Dragon is holding
a series of community events in May and would be delighted to welcome the community along.

Managing Director Alexis Fletcher said: “Reducing our carbon footprint and supporting local and national
net-zero ambitions while securing the future of our business in Pembrokeshire are key to our energy
strategy, and we see renewable wind as a great opportunity. This project alone could contribute up to 39% of our electricity demand, which is significant.”

He continued: “The feasibility assessment is at an early stage, and we are keen for our community to be
fully informed as we shape the proposed project. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Dragon on the 11th May in Newton Hall, providing members of the community the opportunity to hear about the project and ask questions of the project team.”

The first round of community events is scheduled for Wednesday 11th May (in person) and –
Thursday 12th May 2022 (virtual), when members of the project team will be on hand to discuss the
proposals and answer questions. A walk-in public exhibition will take place on Wednesday
11th May 2022 from 4.00 – 7.30pm at Newton Hall, Main Road, Waterston, SA73 1DR. Please
note: If you have COVID-19, have been in contact with someone who currently has COVID-19, have any
COVID-19 symptoms, or feel unwell, please do not attend this event. Hand sanitiser will be available, and
the environment will be ventilated

In order to reach as many members of the community as possible, and mindful of ongoing Covid-19
concerns, an online event will be held on Thursday 12th May 2022 from 5.30-6.30pm.
Registration for this session is only available via the project website homepage:
www.dragonenergypark.co.uk.

The feasibility assessment for the proposed wind project known as Dragon Energy is in its infancy,
with the project team due to submit an Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Request to
Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW), part of the Welsh Government, shortly. A
planning application is expected to be submitted to PEDW in the Autumn.
