Five vehicle occupants from Birmingham stopped by police

ON their routine patrols, the Carmarthenshire traffic team had stopped a car in the Carmarthenshire area which was on its way to Tenby on Sunday, (Jun 7).

When questioned by the RPU officers, the occupants stated they were making the 200 mile journey to Tenby “for a walk on the beach”

As a result, the vehicle and the 5 occupants within the vehicle were reported and issued with a FPN (Fixed Penalty Notice).

The vehicle of five had made the unnecessary three-and-a-half hour journey from Birmingham, despite lockdown regulations in Wales stating people should only travel within five miles as a “general rule of thumb”.

The spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said on their Twitter feed: “After more than 10 weeks of continuous news coverage of lockdown, still a car of 5 thinks travelling from Birmingham for a walk on the beach at Tenby is acceptable.”
