Goodwick: Large fire near Fishguard Bay Hotel is suspected arson

A LARGE fire took hold of a storage building near the Fishguard Bay Hotel in Goodwick last night.

The blaze, which was called in at 10.48pm was described as a large property, well alight at Quay Road.

Four fire appliances were at the scene.

Firefighters from Haverfordwest, St Davids and Fishguard and Goodwick were called to the fire.

The crews were involved in damping down the fire, leaving at 11.57pm.

Dyfed-Powys Police are investigating the fire suspected arson and criminal damage.

A spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the Fishguard Bay Hotel in Quay Road, Goodwick, twice on Saturday, 27 June.

“The first was to damage to the property, including a smashed window, believed to have happened between Wednesday 24 June and Saturday 27 June,

“The force then received a second call over a fire in an outbuilding at the hotel. The fire is thought to have been deliberately started at around 11:20pm on Saturday 27 June, a Dyfed-Powys spokesperson said.

The police confirmed to The Herald that they had had reports of youths in the area throughout the day, which is a line of inquiry.
