Haverfordwest: Major fire in disused property off Barn Street

FIREFIGHTERS are tackling a fire in a disused property off Barn Street, Haverfordwest.

Appliances from Milford Haven are also at the scene as well as a water tanker.

The incident commander said: “We don’t know how the fire started. We received a call at around 7pmtonight with a report of smoke in the area.

“On the arrival of the first appliance, it was evident there was a fire within a derelict building, and that this was affecting the rear extension and spreading to the roof of the property.

“Further appliances were requested and crews deployed, tackling the fire. There is significant damage to the rear and the roof of the property and we will be here for some time.”

The fire was visible from quite a distance and the Fire Service received multiple emergency calls.

Our reporter was on scene with the fire crews at around 10pm on Wednesday evening (Feb 27), and said the fire was under control and that crews were dampening down.

The property where the fire took place is located at the bottom of Barn Street in off a narrow lane on the left hand side of the road as you drive down the hill.

Barn Street remained open to traffic.

There are no reported injuries.
