Haverfordwest: Man arrested following fire in Back Lane

POLICE attended an address in Prendergast, Haverfordwest on Wednesday night (Aug 26) after a man who was intoxicated allegedly set fire to the front door of a residential property.

The panicked occupants of the property, situated on Back Lane near Coronation Chip Shop, managed to put out the blaze, so the fire brigade was not called.

The incident took place at 11.30pm.

The alleged culprit, a 25-year-old male, was quickly arrested and taken into custody.

No person was injured.

A police spokesperson said: “Dyfed-Powys Police responded to a report of a fire at a property in Back Lane, Haverfordwest, at around 11.20pm on Wednesday, August 26.

“The occupants reported that a man had set the front door alight.

“A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson at just before 11.40pm.”
