Haverfordwest woman fined for ranting and raving in the street

A WOMAN who was found to be aggressively ranting in the street has appeared in court to admit a charge of being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

Fifty-five-year-old Louise Wiltshire, of Fleming Crescent, Haverfordwest, appeared at the town’s Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday last week (Feb 4), to admit the charge which occurred in Milford Haven on January 15.

Prosecutor Dennis Davies told the court that around 9.15 pm that night, police were called to the Charles Street area of the town to reports of a female being intoxicated on the street.

“When police officers arrived Miss Wiltshire was unsteady on her feet, talking in a raised voice and her speech was slurred. She was staggering towards a busy road, and at one point lunged towards a member of the public.

“On the whole, her demeanour was aggressive, and as a result, police arrested her.

“The defendant has a number of previous convictions against her, mainly of a similar nature,” added Mr. Davies.

Defending herself in court, Miss Wiltshire said that she was sorry for her actions and was currently engaging with the Dyfed Drug and Alcohol Service in a bid to try and get her life back on track.

Magistrates fined the defendant £80 for the offence and ordered her to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £32 victim surcharge.
