Joke upside-down scaffolding signs are surprise marketing boost

THE OWNER of a Pembrokeshire scaffolding firm says that staff wanting to ‘wind him up’ was the reason that all his advertising signs have been placed up upside-down by staff.
Joe Pollock, of JP Scaffolding in Johnston, instructed his workers that they were to erect signs on all scaffolding jobs – “to my annoyance the boys had not been doing it” – he said
Joe said: “I told them that unless they want the work to dry up that we should erect signs on all our scaffolding. Its common sense really – we had lots of scaffolding up all around the country with nothing advertised on it.
“It seems that the boys decided to follow my instructions but put the signs on upside-down to wind me up.
“When I queried it they said: ‘We put them but you never said which way around you wanted them.”
Sion Vaughan from Aberystwyth posted photo of one of the offending signs in the Facebook group ‘Scaffolders community – Jobs, info and all round laughs’, and followers have now been adding their own pictures of the upside-down signs as and when they find them.
But the upside-down signs are now going viral on social media, and Joe has been contacted by a national trade magazine for his story.
When asked if he would reward his staff with a bonus next Friday for the extra publicity Joe said: “I may get them pint if they are lucky during £2.50 happy hour.”
