Judge set to sentence Neyland man following horrific Castle Square attack

A 20-YEAR-OLD Neyland man has been sent to Swansea Crown Court for sentence after pleading guilty to a charge of wounding causing grievous bodily harm.

After hearing the evidence earlier this week, Haverfordwest magistrates declined jurisdiction in the charge against Thomas James of Honey Lodge, Honeyborough.

Crown Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told magistrates that the offence took place on August 22 at Castle Square, Haverfordwest when the victim, Mr A. Davies, was knocked unconscious and suffered serious injuries requiring plastic surgery.”

He connected with a bench and the next thing he remembers was waking up in hospital,” said Ms Vaughan.  “After seeing the CCTV footage, it’s obvious that it was more than an aggressive spontaneous assault.”

James was granted unconditional bail and the case was adjourned until February 8 when he will appear before Swansea Crown Court.
