
A LORRY which was transporting thousands of chickens has crashed into a river close to Llandovery this morning (Apr 25).
Reports indicate that a large number of the chickens which were in the vehicle did not survive the crash. The Herald understands that there may have been upwards of 10,000 onboard the lorry.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen by the Welsh Ambulance service.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: “We were called at about 5am to reports of a road traffic collision involving a lorry on the A40 in Halfway near Llandovery.
“We sent a crew in an emergency ambulance and one patient was taken to Glangwili General Hospital in a stable condition.”

Dyfed-Powys Police and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene. The road remains closed.
