Man ‘spat towards another member of the public while they were out walking their dog’

POLICE in Pembrokeshire say they have been made aware of a social media post relating to an allegation where a male has spat towards another member of the public while they were out walking their dog on the footpath in front of the skate park in Haverfordwest. This occurred at approximately 10.15am on Friday 24th April 2020 and was reported to police.

The matter was recorded as a crime of assault and an investigation commenced, which included taking a statement from the victim and CCTV enquiries in the area. The male was also identified and spoken to.

In connection with this incident police are trying to trace a lady who was walking her dog, believed to be a schnauzer, in the same area, just after the incident happened, as she may have information which could help the investigation.

Chief inspector Louise Harries said:
“We take all such reports extremely seriously and I can reassure the public that the appropriate action is taken whenever possible. I am aware of the social media post and would ask the public not to speculate on names of the people who may be involved as this could impact on the investigation.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police by phoning 101. (Quoting incident number DP-20200424-072)
