Milford Haven: Aaron Peniket, 30, remanded over Trafalgar pub attack

A THIRTY-YEAR-OLD man has been remanded into custody for an alleged serious attack on drinkers at the Trafalgar pub on Charles Street in Milford Haven last year.

Aaron Peniket, of Hounsell Avenue, Manobier, Tenby was arrested and appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on May 20.

He is charged with beating Jodie Mackie, and unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm upon both Andrew Fairburn and Simon Allerton.

Peniket, who was represented in court by Mike Kelleher of Red Kite Solicitors, did not enter a plea and the matter was sent to Swansea Crown Court.

The defendant was remanded into custody due to the court’s fear that he may abscond, or could re-offend.

The court noted that the nature and seriousness of the alleged offences were further grounds for not granting bail.

The popular drinking spot was forced to close for a few hours when the incident happened in October 2018.

At the time on Facebook, landlady Sally Allen posted: “We took the decision to close until the matter was fully investigated. I would like to thank my customers for they co-operation this morning and supporting with dealing with the matter. Much respect, thank you!”

She later added: “This was a rare but never less a horrible incident that was dealt with very professionally by staff and police. Also, I would like to thank everyone involved for their full cooperation.

“A real show of a community of locals pulling together.

“I couldn’t be any prouder of my staff and customers for their support in this matter at the time and afterwards.

A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police told The Herald at the time: “We attended The Trafalgar pub, Milford Haven, shortly after 7am on Sunday, October 21, following reports of an assault. One man was taken to hospital with a head wound and a woman and a second man received minor injuries.”

The case continues at Swansea Crown Court on Friday June 21, 2019
