Milford Haven: Live rocket at museum led to call out for bomb squad

POLICE received a call from Milford Museum at 11am on Thursday, June 11, reporting that a live firing rocket had been found.

A spokesman said: “It was established that the item was the explosive or rocket end of a Breacher’s Buoy, which would have been used to fire a line between ships.

“There was no immediate risk, but the bomb disposal unit at the RLC were contacted, and arrangements were made for it to be collected.”

Mr Gavin O’Connor, Army Communications Officer, Wales 160th (Welsh) Brigade said “The EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) Unit were called out on Thursday 11th of June, 2020 to Milford Haven Marina.

“A report of Marine Equipment (a line throwing rocket) was discovered in Milford Haven Museum.

“It was suspected that it was explosive material yet to be decommissioned

“The EOD team were called and they carried out an explosion in a controlled environment” and the incident was closed at 8pm the same day.”
