Skomer Island

A RESCUE effort is underway at Skomer Island after reports claimed that a person has fallen from the island into the water.

The incident was attended by Angle Lifeboat RNLI, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, Dale Coastguard Rescue Team, and the Welsh Ambulance Service.

MarineTraffic confirmed that Angle Lifeboat RNLI 16-06 and a coastguard helicopter attended the north side of the island and have since landed by Lockey Lodge.

A spokesperson from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency has said: “At approximately 12 noon today (Thursday, May 5), HM Coastguard received a 999 call from a member of the public reporting a medical incident on Skomer Island.

“Dale Coastguard Rescue Team, Angle RNLI lifeboat and the search and rescue helicopter from St Athan have been sent, alongside the Welsh Ambulance Service.

“The teams are assisting a casualty to the helicopter, for travel to a waiting ambulance on the mainland.”
