On remand after assault on police charge

A 42-YEAR-OLD woman is on remand in Eastwood Park Prison after being accused of assaulting two people – one a police officer – and then failing to report for a court hearing.

Mignonette Goodchild, who gave her official address as Hamilton Court, Pembroke Dock – but who lives in a marquee in a field in Ceredigion, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on Monday (Jul 13) after being arrested by police on a warrant.

The accusation is that on April 3, at Struble Head, Goodchild got into an altercation with, and assaulted PC 588 James Warren and Rona Muscutt – a social worker.
Bail was not given as the court felt that there was a likelihood that the defendant could abscond.

In court Goodchild denied the charges and will now appear at Haverfordwest Court by video link on July 20, and again at Swansea Crown Court also by video link on August 14.
Goodchild’s living arrangements in Ceredigion, with the consent of the landowner, have recently been a subject of debate at a community council meeting.
