A WIDE-RANGING survey has been sent to parents and carers of local school pupils by Pembrokeshire County Council.
The Council is keen to gather their views on a variety of education-related questions in order to support learners and their families as the lockdown continues in Wales.
Views are invited on online learning, which year groups could go back first, social distancing in schools, partial opening of schools and continuing home Learning.
The survey has been sent out by the Children and Schools department. Steven Richards-Downes, the department’s Acting Director, said it is a response to the Minister of Education’s statement that the schools situation in Wales has not changed.
“We will continue to work with Welsh Government to ensure that all our learners and their families remain safe,” he said.
“We are fully committed to ensuring that schools only begin the process of reopening when it is safe to do so.”
He added that the information provided in the survey would be used to inform the Council’s feedback to the Welsh Government.
Wales’ Education Minister Kirsty Williams is set to publish a working document which sets out more of the thinking, planning and modelling for the next steps for education in Wales, including childcare and further education.
The document will include information on how key decisions will be reached and who will be providing advice on those decisions.
Mr Richards-Downes said the Children and Schools department looks forward to working with Welsh Government on this.
