Pembroke: Ex-Mayor’s portrait will be destroyed in victory for protesters

David Boswell: Child rapist's official portrait will remain on display

THE PORTRAIT of rapist ex-mayor Dai Boswell will not be put back on the wall at Pembroke Town Hall following a decision by councillors.

A new vote was taken following a protest outside the council’s offices and following the resignation of fellow town councillor, Jon Harvey.

That decision made by councillors and at Thursday’s (March 12) meeting, unanimously, that the photo would not be put back up.

Mayor Gareth Jones said: “The portrait remains down, and all copies will be destroyed.

Dai Boswell was convicted of child sex offences in 2018 and was sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Towards the end of the meeting Cllr Rose Blackburn handed out copies of legislation including the Malicious Communications Act 1988 saying: “I have made a promise to end all the distress which has been caused to families and the victims. I would like to question the motives of any person who wants to prolong their suffering.”
