Pembrokeshire County Council Leaders coronavirus update

Council Leader, Cllr David Simpson (Pic PCC)

PEMBROKESHIRE County Council Leader, Councillor David Simpson, has provided a further coronavirus update for Wednesday, 27th May, as follows:

‘I’m sure, like me, that as every day passes many of you sit and think back to the days before lockdown.

‘Everyone had their routines, rushing around and probably not spending enough time talking and watching out for each other. Lockdown has made us all pause and consider what and how we do things.

‘We must all take this opportunity, as I am, to reflect on what we have and how we deal with matters going forward.

‘I do appreciate that living in this part of the world we can feel slightly removed from the big cities. Sitting and enjoying the Pembrokeshire way of life is wonderful. However, this pandemic has no boundaries and we in Pembrokeshire are not immune. So please everyone stay safe.

‘I want to thank the many businesses out there that have adapted their ways to ensure they can still deliver critical items. Social distancing measures are particularly evident in stores.

‘I want to remind businesses about the business grant applications. In response to Covid-19 and in order to support businesses, Welsh Government introduced two non-repayable grants.

‘These grants are available to all businesses who are in receipt of small business rate relief or to those occupied properties that are being used wholly or mainly in the retail, leisure and hospitality sector with a rateable value of £51,000 or less.

‘Welsh Government has now announced that the closing date for both these grants is 30 th June, 2020, so we would encourage all businesses to apply before this deadline.

‘You can find more information and make your application for the grant at: www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/business-advice-and-support
