Pembrokeshire Leader’s Update 24 April 2020

PCC County Hall

Pembrokeshire County Council Leader, Councillor David Simpson,
has provided a further coronavirus update for Friday, 24th April, as
follows:

‘Another week has passed and we have all managed to deal with the
extended lockdown. I appreciate that at times adjusting to the
lockdown is difficult but we need to continue to ensure we protect
lives.

‘From tomorrow (Saturday) the stay-at-home regulations will be
revised in Wales to continue to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
‘The Welsh Government is changing the core requirement for people
not to leave the place where they live to a requirement not to leave, or
remain away, from that place.

‘This will help clarify that people who leave their home with a
reasonable excuse – such as going out to shop for food, for
healthcare or for work – cannot remain outside to do other things.
‘There are some new arrangements that allow people with particular
health conditions or disabilities to leave home to exercise more than
once a day. This will assist families with children with learning
disabilities and autism in particular.

‘It is vitally important that we all continue to adhere to the advice and
stay at home.

‘I want to thank our housing services team who are busy engaging
with our tenants on a daily basis to ensure that all their needs are
met. They are also linking tenants into our Community Hub. This is a
huge undertaking and I want to thank then all

‘This is a great opportunity to spend time doing your garden. Turning
over the soil with a garden fork is great exercise while in lockdown. I
understand gardens across the county are looking amazing so well
done everyone, keep going.

‘I am aware there is talk about when we will be allowed to get back to
normal. However, now is not the time to start going out.

‘When we do get back to everyday life we will all look back at this
phase of life as a huge part of our history and we will be able to reflect
on what we all did to help prevent the spread of the virus. Please
prevent the spread of this virus by staying at home.
